When to Call For Help

You have a cardiac device implanted and a home monitor that sends periodic readings to your device team. However, your device team is not reading your transmissions constantly. If you experience any symptoms that concern you, you should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Symptoms can include:

  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness
  • Palpitations
  • Shortness of breath

Or you may:

  • Be shocked more than once by defibrillator
  • Hear an alarm, vibration, or alert from your device
  • Get injured near the device
  • Receive electrical shock outside your body
  • Receive therapeutic radiation

You can call the device manufacturer if you need specific information about your device.
