How to Prepare For Your Exercise Stress Test

There are some other things that you’ll need to do to prepare the night before as well as the morning of your appointment for your exercise stress test. These things will be a little different than if you are preparing for a nuclear stress test.

The test is designed to see how your heart is doing right now, so don’t feel any pressure to get in better shape beforehand.

The night before the test, you should make sure to get a good night’s sleep. If you take any medication on a regular basis, such as beta-blockers or insulin for your diabetes, talk with your doctor about how you should take your medication before your test.

On the morning of your test, you’ll want to make sure that you dress in comfortable clothes. Remember, you are going to be walking on a treadmill so you should wear comfortable shoes, like tennis shoes with socks, and clothing that you would wear when you exercise.

For breakfast, you can have a light meal, but make sure you don’t eat within two hours of your appointment time. You don’t want to come in with a full stomach because it might make you feel uncomfortable during the test.
