Your Healthcare Team (MWHC)

Our goal is to take the best care of you, and to do that there is a whole team of people whose job is to help care for you. Your healthcare team is a team of experts who will care for you before, during, and after your surgery. Below is a list of people you may meet during your stay, but be sure to watch the video to get detailed information on what each person does.

  • Cardiac surgeon
  • Nurse practitioners and physician assistants, or NPs and PAs
  • Registered nurses, or RNs
  • Nurse educator

In addition to your surgical care team, there are also other staff members who may be called on to help with your recovery or your transition from the hospital to your home.

  • A case manager or social worker
  • A patient care technician (PCT)

When it comes to helping you move around following your surgery, there are several people here to help. Your care team will let you know if they think you should see one or more of these people, depending on how you’re recovering.

  • Cardiac exercise physiologist
  • Physical therapist
  • Occupational therapist

The most important thing to remember is that all of your team members are experts at working together on one goal: to give you the best care possible and to help you get better and return home to a healthier life.
