The Morning of Surgery

When you get to the hospital the morning of your surgery, your first stop will be the admissions area for cardiac surgery, where you’ll fill out your registration, if you haven’t registered before the day of surgery.

Make sure you bring your insurance cards, a photo ID, and your blood transfusion paper, if you have one.

During registration, you’ll fill out some forms. After registration, we’ll show you and your family to the surgical area.

This is where you’ll wait for your surgery. We understand that having to wait for surgery can be stressful. Please know that we’ll do everything we can to make your wait as short as possible. Sometimes there are emergencies that cause delays in the surgical schedule, and we appreciate your patience if that happens.

Shortly before your surgery, you’ll meet your surgical team, which includes your cardiac surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurses, and other medical staff. Each member of the team is highly trained and is there to take care of you and help you.

If you have any questions during registration, before your surgery, or at any other time, please ask us. We want you to be as comfortable as possible during the entire process.
