MedStar Health is a non-profit, community-based health system serving the Baltimore/Washington D.C. region. MedStar Health operates over 120 entities, including ten hospitals in the Baltimore/Washington DC metropolitan area.
MedStar Health InFocus is the patient education website of MedStar Health’s Simulation Training & Education Lab (SiTEL). InFocus provides a centralized location to access over 200 short educational videos, text-based content and PDFs that can be printed or downloaded. It is a free resource, created for MedStar patients that is also easily shared with loved ones.
Some of our content was created exclusively for MedStar patients. If you are a MedStar patient and would like access, please contact your care team.
InFocus provides an additional information source that can be accessed anywhere, at anytime by patients and their loved ones. Our videos are short, allowing you to navigate to the topics that are the most relevant to your care. Our PDFs can be downloaded or printed, allowing you to quickly and easily reference key information.
It’s very easy to forget all of the information you receive from your care team, and this website is here to help.
Research studies have shown that a better understanding your upcoming procedure can help reduce anxiety. Also, learning more about your care will help you know what to expect before, during, and after your procedure. Knowing what to expect sets you up for success because it gives you the information you need to know in order to best take care of yourself at home.
InFocus is designed to supplement the education you already receive from your care team, so talk with them if you have more questions. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.
Your feedback is important to us and is key to making InFocus great! Please use the Contact Form to share any and all feedback about the website, its content, or your experiences using it.
Currently, all of our video content has Spanish and English subtitles, which can be found by selecting the grey “CC” on the video playbar. We hope to expand our language offerings in the future!
We use an educational approach called microlearning, which means that our educational information is broken up into bite-size chunks. This allows for a self-directed learning experience, allowing you to view only the videos you’re interested in.
While we do track all website activity, all of the data is de-identified, so we do not collect or store any patient information. Please refer to our Terms of Use if you have more questions.
You can use this website anytime, whether that’s after your procedure, while you’re still at the hospital, or if you’re thinking about having a procedure and want more information.
You care team finds these videos important because they can help you know what to expect and better understand you care.
The content is developed and created by MedStar SiTEL. We partner with clinicians across MedStar Health to provide their clinical expertise.
The benefit of InFocus is that it can be easily shared with family and friends. You can even send the link to a specific video or playlist. To do this, simply navigate to the video or playlist you want to share and copy the URL.
