Other Medications

During your stay with us, you’ll continue to receive medications for your pre-existing medical conditions. You may be given medications, like antibiotics. Antibiotics prevent and treat bacterial infections. You’ll be receiving them during your hospital stay, but they’ll be stopped before you’re discharged.

After surgery, you won’t be as active as you were, which increases the risk of developing blood clots in your legs. For this reason, you’ll be placed on blood thinners. Your physician will determine if and when you can stop taking them.

The pain medication you’re taking may have a side effect of constipation. Your doctor may give you stool softeners to prevent this.

All these medications may become confusing to keep track of, so ask your care team any questions you may have.
