Look At Your Incision Daily
You should look at your incision at least once a day. A good time to do this can be before or after you shower. In general, when you look at it, you should call your doctor if the incision feels worse or looks worse.
You should call your doctor if you have:
- Increased redness
- Swelling
- Increased pain
- Tenderness or feeling hot to the touch
- The edges of the incision pulling apart
- Drainage
- A clicking sound or sensation from your breastbone
If you have any of these symptoms or any other questions about your incision, please talk to your care team.
